Watch The BMW M550i's M5-Beating Acceleration In Action
This 0-250kmh effort may not be a seamless, full throttle run, but it still showcases the M550i's M5-beating acceleration brilliantly
Being a bunch of speed freaks, the detail about the new ‘G30’ 5-series we like the most is the fact the M550i is actually quicker from 0-62mph than the outgoing M5. Hell, it’s even faster than the M5 Competition Pack on the benchmark sprint.
It hits 0-62mph in four second flat thanks to a 455bhp twin-turbo V8 and all-wheel drive traction off the line. And as we can now see thanks to this video, that initial acceleration looks damn impressive in the real world.

BMW logic: let’s make cars that make M cars look useless
M5 owners when they see this…
I think the E63 should lube itself for the upcoming G30 M5
Needs two more cylinders.
Acceleration was impressive, but I was more impressed by two other things; the BMW driver using a turn signal and other slower drivers getting out of the left lane.
Except even the F10 M5 really did 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, according to Motor Trend. Manufacturer 0-60 times are about as reliable as a Russian nuke plant.
“Ormergheeerd faster than an M5 0-60!!”
Blah blah blah. Why are people so hyped about it?
WOW!
Was that the blinker? Or my computer is going mad?
