Watch The 2018 BMW M5 Testing At The Nurburgring In AWD Form

The next generation M5 has been spotted testing at the Norschleife once more, purportedly in all-wheel drive form this time

With a power output in excess of 600bhp expected, it’s looking as though BMW has come over all sensible and given the next M5 an all-wheel drive ‘xDrive’ option on top of the base rear-driven version.

As such, it’ll be the first ever non-SUV car from M Division to feature four driven wheels. It’ll also be the first time the M5 hasn’t been offered with a manual gearbox anywhere in the world - the current F10 version and the old E60 could both be bought with a stick shifter in North America, but that option is set to disappear.

So let me get this straight, BMW are testing the new m5 before they test the new 5 series? I thought it was the other way around..

The M models get some twists and tricks every year or they made one new but not necessarily change the chasis or base of the series.

Like, the m3 from 2002 is different from the one in 2006 but is the same e46 base.

Idk if i explain myself good enough.
