Toyota Just Trademarked The Supra Name In Europe, And Now The Car World's Losing Its Mind

It's looking more and more likely that Toyota will revive the famous Supra name, as the company trademarks the title with the European Union Intellectual Property Office
Toyota Just Trademarked The Supra Name In Europe, And Now The Car World's Losing Its Mind

The last Supra came at a golden age for Japanese sports cars. An age that saw many greats that were eventually discontinued and never replaced. Dare we dream that the Supra name ends up being one of the few to return? That’s been what we’ve been hoping ever since Toyota revealed its stunning FT-1 concept (above), and this latest piece of news makes us wonder if all that finger crossing might not have been in vain after all.

The latest update is thanks to SupraMkV.com, where an administrator spotted that the Japanese company has trademarked the name ‘Toyota Supra’ with the European Union Intellectual Property Office in Iceland. Now, manufacturers do trademark things from time to time which amount to nothing, but this is a very good sign indeed.

It’s anticipated that the Supra name is being revived for Toyota’s side of a joint sports car venture with BMW, a car which could end up using the all-new platform debuted on the Lexus LC500.

Honestly I don’t think it’ll be that good, because most Supras are really modified, but this will be a modern car so I think it’s just going to be so complicated that it won’t be able to be modified to the crazy HP figures that current Supras are able to make, ontop of that I think the original just looks better and the reason why the original was stopped in 2002 was due to new emissions regulations in Japan which means the new one will probably be restricted to get around those, Aswell it’s probably going to be very expensive, You can pick up a Supra RZ for around £15,000 and a NA Manual Supra for more like £5,000 however there is no way that a MK5 Supra would be anywhere around that sort of price range, But who knows? Perhaps it could be a really cool car that lives up to the legendary Supra name but personally I think I will always just prefer the MK4 Supra and that is the car that I’m planning to get one day!

It also could mean they don´t want anybody else to make a car named supra.

I feel like i’m the only one who hates this car. I want a beefier GT-86 type car that’s wider lower with our beloved supra spoiler and has around 400hp for a reasonable price range of 40-60k. Not a super car that has zero styling correlation to the original.
