Top 5 Eye-Wateringly Expensive Cars From Beijing

As the Chinese economy continues to show its strength (all you need to do is take a look at Bentley sales worldwide) we thought we would take a look at some of the most expensive debuts at Beijing on display today. This particular countdown is weirdly inline with what Chinese car buyers usually like; long-wheelbase saloons with acres of legroom in the back and luxury soft-roaders.
5. Porsche Cayenne GTS - £67,000
As we saw last week, the 'pimp-wagon on speed' is a normal Cayenne S that has been training for the B-road Olympics. It takes the Cayenne S's 4.8 V8 and turns it up to eleven, with 420bhp and a 0-62mph time of just 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 162mph. Read all about it here.
4. Range Rover Evoque Victoria Beckham Special Edition - £80,000
The award winning upmarket moon buggy has been given a personal touch by David Beckham's missus. It's more than just an Evoque with her signature on it as it features matt paint, Vintage Tan leather seats and a 17 speaker sound system. The price for it though is double the top spec Dynamic Evoque Coupe and there are only 200 set to be released into the wild.
3. Jaguar XJ Ultimate - £125,000
The Jaguar XJ Supersport was the most expensive XJ you could buy with a 5.0 supercharged V8, until now. As the Chinese love being chauffeured in plenty of comfort, Jaguar have decided to make the ultimate XJ. Literally. It's pretty much like any other big Jag on the outside only with discreet tweaks to make it look upmarket. Inside the centre console goes all the way to the back plus the 2 rear passengers are treated to an iPad, keyboard, wireless headphones, TV screens, electrically aluminium folding tables instead of wooden ones, a champagne chiller plus champagne flute holders. Class. Choice of engines are the usual 3.0 V6 turbodiesel, 5.0 supercharged V8 petrol and a new 3.0 V6 turbocharged petrol which will also be in the F-Type.
2. Eterniti Artemis - £250,000
If you have always wished that the Porsche Cayenne was British, for some reason, look no further than the Artemis. An £83,000 premium over the Cayenne GTS at number 5 is crazy. Some parts of the options list do try and justify the price hike such as hand built carbon-composite body panels, 23-inch rims, 'quilted undercarpets' and carbon fibre and natural wood inserts. The engine is the same 4.8 V8 in the Cayenne GTS but Eterniti claim the one in theirs can do 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 180mph. Still, that jump is steep, but expect this to become the rapper's new car of choice.
1. Bentley Mulsanne Diamond Jubilee Edition - A Lot
The price of this very special Bentley Mulsanne hasn't actually been confirmed but look at it this way; the standard 'everyday' Mulsanne costs £225,000. This one is a special edition to celebrate her majesty the Queen's Diamond jubilee with only 60 cars being made, representing 60 years of the Queen being married to the Duke of Edinburgh. Underneath it's all the same but on the outside there's a two-tone paint job in a limited choice of colour schemes including the beluga over claret option like on the state limousine. Inside there's gold stitching on the seats and the Royal logo on some of the veneer and on the cushions. It could easily be double the price of the standard car!
