This Tiny Little Electric Racer Just Did 0-62mph In A Record-Breaking 1.5sec
An ultra-lightweight, electric-powered 'Formula Student' car has broken the 0-62mph world record with a stunning 1.513 second effort
This isn’t the first time we’ve featured ‘Grimsel’, the crazy little electric car built by students at AMZ Racing. A couple of years ago the car managed to hit 62mph from rest in 1.785sec, breaking the previous record of 2.134 seconds.
The car is powered by four motors - one for each hub - producing 49bhp apiece. The torque output is more impressive though, as Grimsel has a combined 1200lb ft to play with, which is transferred to the tarmac using clever traction control and torque vectoring systems. The whole thing weighs just 168kg.

No sh*t. It’s electric and weighs about the same as a coin.

Still damn impressive. I’ve held one of these engines in my hand, tiny little engines that weigh half a kilo and produce 50hp.
I would love to race that thing. A racing series with formula student cars would be fun
I just googled it and they are racing them xD
Formula student member as well, there is also a competition at spain (f1 circuit
My fully-upgraded Caterham Seven in Forza Horizon 2 can do it faster than this, but that was a great effort!
That reminded me of this

Royal Mail First Class working as intended
What is that thinggg
Lol power to weight
POWWWAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
How does this thing hold the record for fastest time from 0-60 when a topfuel dragster can hit 0-100 in 0.8 seconds
Maybe fastest car that can actually steer more than what a top fuel dragster can.
I’m sure that dragster does not classifie as a car
It is the record for the fastest acceleration of an electric vehicle. They forgot to mention it in the title…
Big wang, ALL WHEEL DRIIIIIVE. Theo would aprove
What.. Is.. That..
