Tesla Will Repair Model S Belonging To Man Who Damaged His To Save Another Driver

When Tesla driver Manfred Kick spotted a fellow road user slumped at the wheel of his VW Passat on a motorway near Munich on Tuesday, he decided to act.

It was clear the VW driver was experiencing some sort of medical issue, and something had to be done. Kick promptly pulled in front of the runaway car, applied his brakes until the Passat was in contact with his rear bumper, and gradually brought the two cars to a halt.

Kick then climbed into the Passat to give first aid to the stricken driver, thought to have been suffering from a stroke. The emergency services were soon on the scene, and the man was last reported to be in a hospital and in a stable condition.

Unfortunately, an act of heroism like this brings with it some annoying complications to mull over afterwards. Who pays for the damage? Will Kick’s insurance premiums now ironically shoot up because of his brave actions?

Thankfully, this already heart-warming story has a little icing on the top to get you right in the feels that little bit more: Elon Musk has since announced that Tesla will cover “all repair costs” in response to Kick’s heroism. Nice.

You could say the drivers reactions were electric. I would imagine applying the brakes at that time really charged him up.

Reminds me of a story that i read a few years ago where a van driver did a similar thing. Unfortunately, his insurance wasn’t as good as Tesla and he didn’t even get a replacement while it was in for repair, and he relied on the van for his job

If I tried to do that in my mazda, not only mazda wouldn’t care, but the guy would die, I’d be sent to prison for murder and my license would be revoked because I blocked the highway. Oh I’d also get a 5000€ ticket , for reasons.
I’m not pessimistic, ok maybe a little.

The experience must be shocking and electrifying…. he could have been charged with reckless driving if anything goes haywire…. but well, at least he have the balls to make the right choice….
