This Tesla Model X Pulling A Plane Is Absolutely Not A Distraction
Today we can bring you another story about troubled EV maker Tesla and – wait, hey, everyone, come and look at this cool thing on Twitter!
This footage of a Model X pulling a Qantas-operated Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner sure is pretty neat. It shows off the car’s ridiculous pulling power, although we’d imagine that if a consumer tried this they might just void their warranty.
But this is, of course, an attempt to distract Tesla’s observers from the fact that the company really isn’t in good shape right now. Production problems persist, staff morale is reportedly on the floor and debts are mounting.
There’s one glimmer of positivity in all this. To be fair to Tesla, this footage does remind us that, whatever is going on behind the scenes and no matter whether the door panels align properly or not, its electric drivetrains really are quite good.

Even a human can pull a plane. Towing airplanes is nothing but a marketing gimmick for car manufacturers.

^What he said. Seriously, all you need to pull a plane is a decent amount of momentum. Pretty much any car can do it.

While it looks impressive, it really isn’t all that big of a feat. As other comments have shown, numerous vehicles have bragged about pulling aircraft for years, but even the vehicles designed for the job don’t have much more than about 200 horsepower, and firsthand accounts of two or three people just pushing planes are out there.
The point is from all of these comments is that it’s really not that hard.
Hmm…knowing Tesla’s current build quality and financial crisis and how CT mentions its drivetrains are good…
I wonder if they should just stop building entire cars and just sell drivetrains to EV-developing companies? You know, people who don’t build cars with the quality of a ‘90s Kia.
Tesla’s fcked so it might not last after 2020.
