Someone's Made A Mid-Engined, Subaru Flat-Six-Powered Honda Insight

That Dude In Blue takes a closer look at a mad autocross car that's powered by the flat-six from a Subaru SVX

The more you hear about this Honda Insight, the madder it sounds. This once Prius-rivalling hybrid eco car was ‘rescued’ by Georgia Tech university after a crash and turned into Frankenstein’s autocross car, and it’s awash with crazy details.

The fact that it’s powered by a mid-mounted Subaru SVX flat-six is mad enough, before you learn it also has F1-style inboard pushrod suspension and a Mazda Miata steering rack. Oh, and a Ford Crown Victoria front end. Obviously.

It’s a ludicrous mish-mash of components you’d never expect to see installed on one car, and we love it. Sounds pretty good too, don’t you think?

I’ll not lie, the MK1 Insight is a huge guilty pleasure of mine - still resisting the urge to buy one and stick in the garage…for now.
