Seat Is Cooking Up A 335bhp Leon ST Cupra R

There may only be 24 Leon Cupra Rs coming to the UK, but if you miss out on one of those, don’t panic. Seat has another Cupra development up its sleeve, and it concerns the ‘ST’ estate version of the Leon.

Auto Express reports that Seat sales and marketing chief Wayne Griffiths is currently driving around in a prototype Leon Cupra ST that’s running 335bhp. It has an ABT exhaust, 20-inch wheels plus - like the incoming Cupra R - a load of copper accents, and Seat engineers are said to be “looking to roll them [the modifications] out to customers in due course.”

The more potent guise would be available only for the four-wheel drive, DSG-equipped Leon ST, since it doesn’t need any additional changes to cope with the extra poke. We prefer the front-wheel drive Cupra, but we’re certainly up for trying a faster, louder version of of the Cupra ‘4Drive’.

It should be here at some point next year.

So, Seat recreates a second stage 2007 Cupra in a SW looks.
That sounds like its gonna save some time for modders.

Always was a good car, kinda thirsty and extremelly boring as far as looks go, but a good solid and fast car. The SW version is quite handy too.. future sleeper maybe??

Seat be like “how are we gonna name it?” ‘Well i have an idea just put all names of our sporty types together’ that’s how the name was made

AMG broke the 400ps mark in the C-segment a while ago, seems like it won’t take way too long from now for the less expensive manufacturers.

I don’t see why that would become common place. You need a few expensive bits to go much over 3 so it’ll only be the premium players imo.

SEAT = Brand
Leon = Model
ST = Estate/Wagon
Cupra = Sports
R = More hardcore version

It’s no worse than other manufacturer’s names.

To everyone commenting on the ‘Seat Leon Cupra ST Cupra R’ name. Do some research before you sh*tpost: that name is quite simply a TYPO because if you do a simple search around the interwebs you will actually learn that the name is ‘Seat Leon ST Cupra R’. I’m not saying it’s not a silly name as well all I’m saying is it’s most definitely not a Cupra Cupra. :)

I’m not jealous at all in fact. I hate the way the car loo—sorry I forgot. No opinions. I would rather not have to see that.

Yeah it’s got that angle going at the rear. Stick it next to one though and I doubt it will.
