Aston Martin has teamed up with Zagato to produce this stunning concept for the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, and it's packing just shy of 600bhp

Zagato specials - particularly the ones made in collaboration with Aston Martin - tend to be a little divisive, but I’m pretty sure most will be happy to label this latest one as flipping gorgeous. It’s the fifth Aston Martin to be worked over by the Italian coachbuilders, and is based on the Vanquish.

The new carbonfibre bodywork is penned by Zagato over in Milan, and put together by Aston in Gaydon. At the front we have a gigantic grille reminiscent of previous Zatago’d Astons, and at the rear we have the same ‘bladed LED’ tech as seen on the Vulcan track special. In another cross-model styling mod, those delicate looking wing mirrors are intended to look like those of the One-77.

Under the bonnet we’re looking at Aston Martin’s tried and tested 5.9-litre naturally-aspirated V12, with the power turned up from 568 to 592bhp. That’s just shy of the 600bhp on offer from its turbocharged replacement that debuts in the DB11, and while no performance figures are given, the extra poke and extensive use of carbonfibre should drop the 0-62mph time to under four seconds.

Posh touches on the inside include lashing of carbonfibre, anodised bronze detailing for some of the switchgear, a ‘Z’ stitch pattern on the seats and door cards, and some big Zagato Zs stitched onto the headrests and centre console to remind you this ain’t no ordinary Aston.

Officially this is just a concept, but we fully expect this Vanquish to follow the lead of the DB7 Zagato, which had a production run of 99. As far as price goes, expect to double the standard Vanquish’s near £200k tag - then add a good chunk more - and you’ll probably be about there.

It’ll debut this weekend at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Lake Como, Italy.

Omg, the rear looks like the New Ford GT has had a baby with an F-Type R! Which is by no means a negative thing! It’s stunning!

Nose and side are great. The roof reminds me of a Nissan GTR and the rear of Alfa Romeo. But it looks great except for those sharp lines of the rear wheel arches.

Am I the only one doesn’t like this car? The normal vanquish is a beautiful car but to me this does not look right…

Am I the only one here who thinks Zagato takes good Aston’s and just makes them look worse and changes you more for the pleasure…?
