Safety Car Deployment Causes Huge Multi-Car F3 Pile-Up
You'll often see huge crashes at Spa, but this pile-up is in another league...
Young racing drivers, take note. When you see a safety car deployment board, it's time to ease off the gas. Unlike this sorry lot of young guns...
This was the second race of the sixth 2013 European F3 Open championship round, held at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
The safety car was brought out - and we all know what havoc they can cause - after a big role for Santiago Urrutia at the Les Combes corner.
With the drivers slowing at the front of the pack, those behind got caught up in the concertina effect, which sparked a massive pile-up on the way to Pouhon. Eight cars were too damaged to continue with several other drivers escaping unscathed or with only cosmetic damage.
