The Old Dodge Viper Factory Is Being Turned Into A Museum

The factory that built the dearly-departed Dodge Viper will be turned into an amazing museum of fascinating American cars, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles North America has announced – although the public aren’t invited just yet.

The 51-year-old Conner Avenue Assembly Plant, which has stood silent since the last Viper rolled off the production line in August 2017, will see its near-400,000 square feet repurposed into meeting space, event-hosting facilities and storage for all of the group’s US heritage and concept cars – or at least those that it still owns.

The Old Dodge Viper Factory Is Being Turned Into A Museum

Around 85 cars out of almost 400 will be put on display at any one time at the facility just south of Eight Mile Road in Detroit, in 77,000 square feet set aside for the purpose. They will include the oldest in the collection, a 1902 Rambler, and historically significant old motors like the 1924 Chrysler Touring.

What used to be the building’s office space will be converted into almost 22,000 square feet of meeting space, which will include facilities to host talks or conferences. While the former plant won’t be open to the public at first, the plans do include provision to open its shiny new doors to paying (or maybe not) visitors further down the line.

Take me down to the motorhead-city, where the grass is green and the cars are pretty.

Would you rather:

A. Viper discontinued but will forever be remembered as a glorious, godly machine?

B. Viper continues production as a FWD 1.2L “sports car” or worse, a damn crossover?

Idk bout u but I’d choose A

I remember the first model car I had was a silver gen 2 Viper with Blue stripes, that was part of what got me interested into cars, I’m going to miss the Viper :(
