Nissan Just Chopped The Roof Off A 370Z Nismo And It Looks Ridiculously Hot
I’m a huge fan of the 370Z Nismo. Keep your eyes peeled for my feature about why I reckon it’s a future JDM classic, coming soon. In the meantime, though, check out this concept just unveiled at the Chicago auto show - the ballistic sports car has gone topless.
If you like your dose of sports car madness with a side helping of wind-in-hair, this is the car for you. The 3.7-litre V6 is the same upgraded version found in the Nismo coupe, making 339bhp and 276lb ft of torque. The concept gets a seven-speed automatic gearbox with ‘rev matching’ tech, though we’re hoping if this goes into production you’ll have the option of a manual as the coupe’s shift is absolutely fantastic.
The Roadster also gets the coupe Nismo’s suspension tweaks, upgraded exhaust system and optimised engine control unit.
The aerodynamic enhancements are carried over from the coupe, however the Roadster gets a unique carbonfibre rear spoiler. Those huge wheels are 19-inch super-lightweight forged aluminium alloys by Rays, wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza tyres. The roof is a cloth power folding unit.
Inside there are new leather Recaro seats, with off-white suede inserts which resist heat when parked in open sunlight, so you don’t burn your backside after leaving the roof off. The steering wheel is part-Alcantara, part-leather.
Although this is currently just a concept, a production version would be easy to create. Nissan is out to ‘judge consumer reaction,’ so if this is something you’d like to own you’d better speak up.
