The Nissan 350Z Is One Of The Best Used JDM Bargains Right Now
I sit opposite fellow CT staffer Darren in the office, and not a week goes by where he doesn’t audibly pine after some hot JDM metal he can’t afford - usually something like an S15 Nissan Silvia. However, I reckon he’s lusting after the wrong motors. A lot of the 90s JDM modern classics - S15s, Supras and so on - are getting very expensive and hard to find in unmolested form, but there’s a more recent rear-driving Japanese coupe that’s in plentiful supply and far more affordable: the Nissan 350Z.
As we found out recently, the latest and fastest version of Nissan’s V6 sports car - the 370Z Nismo - is a cracker that we’re just waiting to become a used bargain after some depreciation, but earlier examples of the 350Z are already cracking value. Just take this example. It’s the higher-spec GT version, and is up for a mere £5950. It’s done 93,000 miles, and has a full service history.
Sending its power rearwards is a 3.5-litre V6, which is good for 276bhp and 268lb ft of torque. 0-62mph is possible in just 5.9 seconds, and it’ll crack 155mph. The chassis is brilliant, and other than a rather naff interior, a pitiful boot and a firm ride, there aren’t a lot of downsides to ownership. Sure, you’ll get through a lot of fuel, but servicing isn’t too expensive and reliability very good.
Fancy taking the plunge?
