Next-Generation Bentley Continental GT Teased
Bentley's resurgence started under Volkswagen's ownership when the Continental GT was introduced in 2003. Doesn't seem like that long ago, does it? 7 years later, the Continental GT is still a highly impressive vehicle.
Bentley's resurgence started under Volkswagen's ownership when the Continental GT was introduced in 2003. Doesn't seem like that long ago, does it? 7 years later, the Continental GT is still a highly impressive vehicle.
However, it is time for a redesign. Bentley recently introduced its flagship (don't call it Arnage replacement) Mulsanne and the Continental GT looks to adopt a similar approach.
The headlight setup is pretty much the extent of what we are seeing right now from the "teasers" released by Bentley. What we can tell is that the formula is being tweaked with a bit.
While the current Continental GT has two similarly sized units, the new model goes for an inset lamp that is clearly larger than the outside one. They also take on a jewel-like consistency.
Other than headlights, there is rough sketches of the front end, along with pictures of the gauge cluster and center stack. The center stack looks more modern than the one on the current car.
Expect the new Continental GT to be loaded with technology. It is an evolutionary update, not a revolutionary one - revolution and Bentley usually don't find themselves in the same sentence (but hey, they just did!).
To announce its arrival, they created a slick teaser video and website with countdown. Check it out here. Can Bentley improve on the near-perfection of the current Continental GT? We'll see soon enough - in about 18 days and 17 hours as of this writing.
