New Ranger Rover Pricing is Released

The British luxury automotive brands are on a roll lately, aren't they? Jaguar, Land Rover, Bentley, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce - all luxury brands hailing from England. For that matter, MINI has done very well too, even though it's not a luxury brand like any of the ones mentioned.

Now it's too bad none of these companies are under British ownership, but they have been designed and built in Britain so that has to count for something. Maybe someone will someday revive a more affordable, mainstream British brand. Well, I'm digressing quite a bit. The story here is that Land Rover has released pricing for it's latest and greatest, the Range Rover.

Rolls-Royce of SUVs? Without a doubt. The Range Rover has continued to show sales resilience for Land Rover, helping to cushion other losses due to the economy. The Ranger Rover was updated pretty extensively at this year's New York International Auto Show.

Many refinements and detail changes to the exterior, along with an extensively redesigned interior that includes a like a new touchscreen navigation system and 12-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) screen in place of traditional, physical gauges. The screen is customizable to show different driver settings in the middle area, as well as off-road information like steering angle, wheel articulation, suspension settings and Terrain Response™ settings.

The standard HSE model that Land Rover has priced at $79,725 is powered by a 5.0-liter, naturally aspirated V-8 making 375 horsepower and 375 foot-pounds of torque. Power has been so improved that the base Range Rover for 2010 hits 0-60 in nearly the same time as last year’s supercharged (7.1 2009 vs. 7.2 2010). A supercharged 5.0L V-8 is also available with a crazy 510 horsepower and 461 foot-pounds of torque! That engine will run you $95,125.
