Land Rover Australia has dropped a clanger, accidentally publishing photos of the all-new 2017 Discovery hours before the media were due to set eyes on it. Oops.

The images show the car’s exterior without any disguises for the first time, and there’s no great shock in the fact that it looks so much like the Evoque and Discovery Sport. One feature the newly lifestyley Disco maintains, though, is the off-centre rear number plate. It’s purely as a nod to heritage rather than for a practical reason, and we’re not sure it works with the new design.

We’d imagine the conversation at Land Rover Australia went something like this: “Is this public yet, mate?” “Yeah, probably mate.” “Ace, mate, I’ll sling these pictures online then.” Since then there might have been more than one “strewth!”, too…
