Nearly a year has passed since the infamous steak-related fracas, and Jeremy Clarkson has finally issued an official apology to former Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon.

The apology has come at the end of a racial discrimination and personal injury claim that has been ongoing since November. Tymon, a well respected member of the Top Gear team, brought the claim after allegedly being called a “lazy, Irish c**t” by Clarkson at a hotel in Hawes, North Yorkshire. The producer was also assaulted during the incident after Clarkson was informed that he could not order a sirloin steak after a long day of filming. It is now understood that a settlement of £100,000 has been reached.

Through his lawyers, Clarkson has now expressed his regret:

“I would like to say sorry, once again, to Oisin Tymon for the incident and its regrettable aftermath.

“I want to reiterate that none of this was in any way his fault.

“I would also like to make it clear that the abuse he has suffered since the incident is unwarranted and I am sorry too that he has had to go through that.

“I am pleased that this matter is now resolved. Oisin was always a creatively exciting part of Top Gear and I wish him every success with his future projects.”

In response, Tymon’s Lawyer, Paul Daniels, issued a statement declaring the end of legal action:

“The action involving Mr Tymon has been concluded. Oisin is keen to put the matter behind him now that it has been brought to a close. Oisin greatly appreciates all of the support he has received, including from the BBC. He remains focused on the creative work he loves at the BBC.”

Hopefully both parties can now put this incident behind them and focus on their new projects, drawing a line under an unfortunate episode that had huge ramifications for petrolheads.

But it will cost BBC more since TG was a big hit and trying to replace the trio legends will cost them even more.

Well, I think we all agree that what happened after the punch was a bit of an overreaction to say the least. Your argument may have some warrant today and the racism card DOES get pulled too often, but do remember that back even less than 100 years ago, people were categorized as being different kinds of “white” and in some countries, such as the U.S, the Irish, Italian, Scottish kinds of white (etc. as an example) were considered inferior. Today, usually, using somebody’s involuntary attributes (i.e. black, white, Irish, fat) negatively is unnecessary. Like, why would you need to go there?

I’m sure Clarkson didn’t mean it that way, and neither am I a person to be considered overly politically-correct and easily offended; I just believe in being a little more careful about one’s actions in order to not cause more anger than is necessary.

Claiming racial abuse for that is absolutely abhorrent. But hey, money is always more important.

He needs the cash since he’ll never work again for getting the biggest TV show in history canceled instead of just fining Clarkson to begin with. Also his actions resulted in that $250M signing by Amazon and a better job for Clarkson. I bet he wanted apiece of that pie haha

‘’Tymon, a well respected member of the Top Gear team’’
Yeah right! Everybody hates the guy and with good reason.
His own incompetence destroyed the show we loved to watch.

When there’s cash to be made out of a situation, someone will surely take the oportunity to do so.

It’s not like he can’t pay for it and anyways with all the time used in court, the other guy (The receiver of the punch) should have to spend a good chunk of that in court fairs.

Can someone explain to me how calling someone who is from Ireland “Irish” is racist? What a vagina.

Thank you! They’re both white, the racial discrimination claim was purely so Tymon could try to make money. Someone needs to send the Interceptors after him…
