The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 Is A 592bhp Super Saloon Weapon

Two years after launching the XE, Jaguar still hasn’t whipped up a hot ‘XE SVR’. The company insists it has no plans to either. However, what it has done is make a really hot, limited-edition XE, and it’s called the SV Project 8.
Only 300 will be built, each with a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 up front making 592bhp. Yep, nearly 600bhp - that’s BMW M5/Mercedes-AMG E63 levels of power in a compact saloon. If you listen carefully, you’ll probably be able to hear an M3 crying in the corner.

Jaguar isn’t divulging a whole lot right now, and indeed hasn’t given us a full look at the car without camouflage. We can however see it’s packing some quite serious aero, and Jag has revealed that the car has been testing at the Nurburgring - expect some sort of bonkers lap time to be revealed in the near future.

The XE SV is the second ‘Collectors’ Edition’ car from by Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations - the first being the F-Type Project 7 - and will be hand-built at the SVO Technical Centre in Coventry.
All this begs the question: why not make a lightly watered down, mass production version? If the V8 fits in the XE’s engine bay, it’d be rude not to. Go on Jaguar, you know you want to…
