It's Cocky Kids Like This That Give British Boy Racers A Bad Name
VICE looked at Britain's Boy Racer scene, working with police and the young men that give us petrolheads a bad name
Documentary maker VICE integrated itself 'with one of the most notorious and misunderstood youth subcultures of the last 30 years: the boy racer scene.'
This film follows boy racers in Essex and Whitley Bay as they celebrate car culture in England. From industrial estate car parks to dual carriageways up North, the lads love to show off their motors.
It's a well-balanced film that gives all perspectives. You'll initially think the drivers are nothing but idiots, but you see that many of them just have nothing better to do thanks to the UK's high unemployment and deprived communities.
It's hard to feel sympathy for these lads, but this film at least goes some way to explaining why they act like they do.
