IndyCar Driver Suffers Multiple Broken Bones In Sickening Crash
Round 14 of the 2018 IndyCar season was red flagged in its early stages following a huge crash. Contact between Robert Wickens and Ryan Hunter-Reay launched the former’s car into the catch fencing at Pocono, and we have to warn you - the violent impact is horrifying to watch.
Wickens was airlifted to hospital, and soon after described as “awake and alert” by IndyCar vice president of communications Curt Cavin. It’s since emerged that the Canadian driver broke both legs in the accident, along with his right arm. He’s also been left with an injury to his spine and bruising to one of his lungs. Wickens is expected to undergo surgery at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
The race was stopped for two hours while the damaged catch fencing was repaired, with Alexander Rossi dominating proceedings following the restart. He took victory ahead of Will Power.
We wish Wickens a speedy recovery.

Have some respect.
As unfortunate as this is, it’s amazing that someone can now have a crash this horrific and ‘only’ end up with some broken bones. Do this in an early indycar and they won’t need to wipe your remains off the track because your remains would’ve already become one with the wind. Truly a testament to modern engineering.
Wise words
There was also Hinchcliffe’s crash which was pretty bad and yet I think he only got a couple fractures
also has to have rods put into his back, if i heard correctly.
Nevermind I will edit the comment it has gone to a point I did not want it to go
“Toyota disqualified from WEC” - Top Comment: “I guess Alonso will go for IndyCar then”
“Horrible IndyCar crash” - Alonso: “Nvm, back to Formula 1 it is”
Looks like the kenny bräck crash
Brack’s crash was a lot more intense, I think it holds the record for the most Gs absorbed by a human being who survived, with something like 200 Gs, although it was something like lateral Gs because his car transformed into a Beyblade the moment he crashed
Lets just be thankful he survived.
I feel like race organizers can find a better alternative to catchfencing, this crash is brutal and there’s too many of them.
Yea like can we get a giant gravel trap and then fencing
