Here's Your First Look At Volkswagen's New Pint-Sized SUV

Because the industry is on a mission to SUV all the things, it's Volkswagen's turn to release a small one. Ahead of its official launch, the brand has tweeted a first design sketch
Here's Your First Look At Volkswagen's New Pint-Sized SUV

T-Roc: no, it’s not the next big American rap artist, you silly thing; it’s Volkswagen’s dinky new SUV that is to the Tiguan what the Polo is to the Golf.

VW has released this teaser sketch through its social media channels, along with a video detailing the design process through the eyes of a man who wears vivid red trainers – and his colleagues who don’t.

The car will be a direct rival to the likes of the Seat Ateca and Audi Q2. It’s unusual for the parent brand to step into the party so relatively late, after its three mainstream sister brands have already broken ground in a sector that’s new to them all. Skoda’s Yeti, soon to be replaced by the sadly less characterful Karoq, was the first on the scene in 2009, and it’s only recently that Audi and Seat have caught up.

VW is going to be posting more design sketches of the T-Roc in the next few days, so if you guys seem at all interested in the comments below, we’ll post them up. If you don’t… well, we’ll just pretend this never happened.

Unfortunately, this is probably one of a handful of ways manufacturers are getting cars to sell. People just don’t want actual cars anymore. VW needs to boost sales after the whole diesel debacle
