Here’s Your First Chance To Listen To The Incoming V6 Audi RS4

The next RS4 will be dropping two cylinders and gaining a couple of turbochargers, and thanks to this Nurburgring testing clip, we now have some idea of how it'll sound

Last year the mighty Audi RS4 - a car we’re particularly fond of - was quietly dropped from the range. That’s a damn shame as it’ll be one of the last cars to have the company’s superb 4.2-litre N/A V8 fitted. A twin-turbo V6 replacement has been rumoured for a while, and the noise coming out of this prototype’s tailpipes all but confirms the loss of two cylinders.

Power-wise, we’re looking at around 480bhp, if the most recent reports are to be believed. Also, it’s looking like a saloon variant will be available, unlike the previous generation which was only ever produced as an estate.

Now the only car in this segment with a V8 is the C63 AMG, and from the way things are going, that won’t last for much longer either.

RIP V8s…

Horrible exhaust sound, hope it’s some sort of valve mechanism to open it up a bit more…
