Here's A Spectator's View Of That Huge Touring Car Pile-Up
Last weekend’s World TCR race at Vila Real was red flagged after contact between Rob Huff and Mehdi Bennani triggered a massive pile-up. The footage we saw then was shocking enough, but we’ve since seen the spectator-shot videos above and below, which give an even more dramatic look at the wreck. Note: for a less potatoey version of the top video, head over here.
Almost every car on the grid was involved, but thankfully, it seems as though there were no serious injuries. Huff and Bennani were taken to hospital, but later discharged. Their cars weren’t quite so lucky, however: both of the VW Golf GTI TCRs were written off, Autosport reports. Huff’s car came off worse, with the engine breaking free of the chassis.
Finally, this last video shows a cockpit view of the accident, along with some particularly shocking aftermath footage, giving a sense of the sheer scale of what happened. It’s a wonder it only took two hours to clear the track and fix the barrier damage.

Still more exiciting than F1 right now.
That’s a lot of damage, nothing a bit of flex tape cant fix though
They should have trunks on more race cars cause it makes it easier to get out after a crash
roof hatches.
2 days later on eBay: touring car engine for sale, minor damage, works fine
At least you and myself both covered Craiglist and Ebay!

Never before has the difference between portrait and landscape filming been so stark.
