Jaguar just broke the Guinness World Record for the 'fastest towed speed on skis' using a V6 XF Sportbrake and a spectacularly brave Olympic skier

Remember that episode from Top Gear many years ago, where Jeremy Clarkson was on a pair of skis, being towed by the then new Jaguar X-Type estate? Imagine that, but a bit quicker, and with a much newer Jaguar wagon.

Actually, ‘a bit quicker’ is putting in mildly: as you’ll see in the video above, a V6-powered XF Sportbrake hit an “average top speed” of 117mph while towing former Olympic skier Graham Bell. The feat - which took place at Jaguar Land Rover’s Revi Test Centre in Arjeplog, Sweden - broke the Guinness World Record for the ‘fastest towed speed on skis’ (yep, there’s a record for that) by 49mph.

The attempt was - understandably - done using an all-wheel drive XF, and follows up a similarly bonkers record attempt from Jaguar involving an E-Pace and a barrel roll
