Happy Birthday RUF: The Rt 35 Anniversary

RUF's main mission over the last 35 years has been to take a bog-standard Porsche, and rip it to shreds. So, can you guess what they did to celebrate their birthday? That's right, they ripped up another Porsche.

RUF's main mission over the last 35 years has been to take a bog-standard Porsche, and rip it to shreds. So, can you guess what they did to celebrate their birthday? That's right, they ripped up another Porsche.

This is the Rt 35 and was built with pride from the 35 year back catalogue of turbocharged engines and dual-clutch gearboxes. What they did was take the body and chassis of the latest 991 911 and gave it a bit more oomph using a 3.8-litre bi-turbo engine that produces 630hp giving it a 0-62mph time of 3.2 seconds, making it the fastest and most powerful 991 currently available with a top speed of 205mph.

The only thing that will put the many Porsche enthusiasts off is the fact that power is delivered through a dual-clutch gearbox rather than a 7-speed manual. Still, it's good of RUF to include one in the package rather than charge you over £2,000 for the optional PDK.
