GT86 Race Car Flips Onto Roof And Rolls Over Barrier In Huge Shunt

Michael Scott’s Toyota GT86 made contact with another car during a Toyota Finance 86 Championship race in New Zealand, which caused his car to flip into its roof, roll several times and end up jumping over the catch fencing

The incident took place in race three at the Pukekohe Park Raceway. The high-speed wheel-to-wheel contact pitched Scott’s race car onto its roof.

It slid into the gravel trap, dug in, scarily rolled several times and ended up over the barrier. Scott got out of the car and, according to the commentators, was OK but he was taken to a local hospital for checks. The race was red flagged, as the incident took place with two laps to go.

Anyone ever thought of slightly flaring race-car’s fenders so this can’t happen?

The S2K Guy

If he could have landed (and balanced) it could have been an epic overtake

Easy clear up for the marshals, and no need for a safety car.
What a considerate racer.
