The Grand Tour’s replacement of the Stig is already becoming seriously dull. There’s only so many jokes you can make about how Non-US cross-plane V8’s suck before one gets bored. The american seems to be placed into the show by Amazon to simply sate Americas narcissism. I’m sure the trio could have thought of something better. Besides, a fat, narrow-minded american is out of place in a car show run by brits that goes to different locations around the world each week…. D:
It seems like a missed opportunity to have a “local” racing driver from each location (with a stereotypical mask) making stereotypical remarks. This would have kept the driver interesting for more than just 5 minutes into the first episode.
You seem kinda hostile towards America. To be fair, he doesn’t actually hold those opinions, and he’s also unpopular with American viewers.
They couldnt have a different driver from every location because then the lap time board wouldnt be accurate as each drivers level of skill and driving style would be different.
Why would they even hire a mediocre NASCAR driver with barely any road course experience? There are plenty of other, better drivers out there, of any nationality. +1 for the “local drivers for every episode”.
I totally agree. I was bored of the ‘American’ after the first episode. Not just because I don’t like Americans but because I feel he really brings nothing to the show. As much as I think having local racing driver from each location is a nice idea, in order for there to be consistency with lap time they need the same driver every time. To be honest, I wouldn’t mind the American if he would just shut up!
