Think you’ve had some long stints on Forza? Think again, because five gamers have just broken the world record for the longest marathon on a racing game.

The pan-European team of digital wheelsmiths spent 48 hours, 29 minutes and 21 seconds driving Ford GTs around a simulated Le Mans, completing a combined 3015 laps – or almost 25,500 miles. That’s enough to drive once around the world.

They averaged 603 laps each, playing Forza Motorsport 6 on Xbox One consoles at Ford’s Cologne HQ in Germany. Other than drink and sweets, they were only allowed to rely on power naps to keep going.

An adjudicator from Guinness World Records witnessed the marathon race, where to stay awake for two nights straight the competitors drank 32 energy drinks, 146 bottles of water, 47 bottles of soft drink and ate more than 3kg of sweets.

After smashing the previous best of 48 hours and one minute, the ‘title’ for “longest video marathon on a racing game” was presented to the British, German, Italian, French and Spanish gamers on the Microsoft stage at Gamescom, Europe’s biggest interactive trade fair.

Let us know in the comments the longest amount of time you’ve ever spent on racing games in one sitting.
