Ford Focus RS Upgrade Kit Announced
The Focus in the United States was very successful when it debuted, but sales began to slow down as Ford let it get stale. They began to rectify that with the car's current generation, which was launched in 2008 and has been highly-successful.
The Focus in the United States was very successful when it debuted, but sales began to slow down as Ford let it get stale. They began to rectify that with the car's current generation, which was launched in 2008 and has been highly-successful.
However, there isn't a doubt that Europe has a better Focus than we do. There is no better evidence of that available than the RS500, limited to 101 cars. As expected, the run of 101 vehicles was quickly sold out, despite a high pricetag of £35,450 (about $54K USD at current exchange rates) each.
Ford said there was "unprecedented demand" for RS500 performance model, and as such is introducing this new package to satisfy it, dubbed MP350. You can order your new RS with it, or upgrade your existing vehicle.
The kit gives Ford Focus RS owners an extra 45 horsepower and 20 pound feet of torque, on top of the existing 305 hp, bringing the total to 350, the same as the RS500.
Changes include a larger intercooler and air filter box, bigger exhaust downpipe and higher-capacity fuel pump, along with tweaked software calibration. This is all for only about $3,000 - getting the performance of the RS500 for a lot less. Sounds like a good deal to us! Now just bring us over a Focus hot hatch of our own.
