Devel Sixteen Dyno Run Shuts Every Sceptic Up By Proving It's Really Got Over 4500hp

When we first learned about a new superhypercar called the Devel Sixteen two years ago, we, and much of the world's media called BS on the car's 5000hp figure. Now, it's Devel that's got the last laugh...

Here are the specs of the engine that prove that this result really does check out:

Devel Sixteen, 12.3 Liter V16 engine, 81mm Quad Turbo, 32 Titanium Valves, Sixteen Cylinder One Billet Block, Devel Sixteen Cylinder Heads, One Billet Cam Shaft, One Crank Shaft, rated over 5000 Horsepower.

  • 4515 Horsepower @6900 rpm, 36 psi c16 (dyno could not hold any more power over 4515 hp)
  • 3519 Torque @6600 rpm, 36 psi
  • 3002 Horsepower @6900 rpm, 20 psi (on pump gas – daily use)
  • 2407 Torque @6400 rpm, 20 psi

  • The Most Powerful Engine Ever Built for a Production Car.

  • The Most Powerful Engine Ever Built on Pump Gas.
  • The First & Only V16 Quad Turbo Engine for a Production Car.

While these figures check out on the dyno, it’ll be interesting to see how that power is transferred to the huge rear wheels, and indeed, how reliable this engine will really be. Also, will the Devel Sixteen be able to hit its claimed 348mph top speed? Watch this space…

The build quality on the exterior (and probably interior aswell) is literally worse than a Tata Nano.

Let’s hope the thing we see is just a mock-up

That thing was just a mock-up, I don’t even know what engine that thing had. After that dyno run though, I don’t care how the car looks, as long as it has the mechanical prowess to hold all that power! 4500HP? Are you kidding?

Yes, and I still call BS on this car, I mean anyone with a lot of money can pay an american company to build a custom engine. We know they know how to build engines (NHRA, NASCAR) so this video doesn’t prove much… Now I want to see what gearbox they’ll use, and how the body resists to the wind at 300+ mph

Who needs 4500hp?
Even on the track this is senseless

Straight lines is even something this will struggle even if it’s fitted with 345mm tyres and has awd. Im really looking forward to see how they tackle these challenges.

So this is why every one is being told to use less petrol, now there’s a reason I can get behind.

Now we need Clarkson to do a metaphor/simile. Like “its like weaponising a wind farm” something like that.

Impressive redline for something that has 12.3 liter of displacement and 4 turbos, but isn’t it time to stop? Personally, I think the idea of “achieving the highest top speed record” is getting too far. Yes, at 1 side it’s a very amazing achievement and it takes a lot of engineering. But at another side, it’s quite pointless. It’s not like someone will drive 348mph on streets, or even tracks. Also with all that power, will it handle well? Take the Veyron as an example. Yes, it’s the world’s official fastest production car, but it lost to a Porsche Carrera GT on the Nurburgring. Not just by 1 or two seconds, no, by 12 whole seconds. Note that 500 million USD was spent on the Veyron’s R&D.
And with all that engineering, is it worth the cost? Volkswagen had already lost 4.25 million USD on each bugatti sold, so is it worth to build something faster which will cost more to develop? Yes, you can charge more for each car, but less people will buy it.

Isn’t it time for car manufacturers to stop on achieving top speed, and just make something more less pointless? Something that thrills people not because it’s as fast as sound. Take the Ariel Atom 3.5R. It’s not fast in terms of speed, neither is it expensive as f*ck, but it give a lot of thrills to the driver behind the wheel.

I think this is totally pointless but I think you’re missing the point of the Veyron. It’s a luxury car with a ridiculous top speed not a track demon. Of course it’s going to lose out to drivers cars.
