Dashcam Footage Shows Drunk Woman's Erratic Driving And Inevitable Crash
To highlight the dangers of drink driving, Sussex Police this week released the rather terrifying video above. It was captured by the dashcam of a Vauxhall Corsa being piloted by a drunk driver, and it’s particularly disturbing to watch.
We see the Corsa driver clipping kerbs, veering off the road and hitting a bush, charging through a residential area at 50mph, and finally slamming into a parked Audi A4 in Bexhill, East Sussex at nearly 40mph. It’s those final moments that are perhaps the most distressing - it looks as though the driver made no attempt to avoid the crash.
What’s not shown is the moment the driver - later identified as 41-year-old teacher Louise Willard - reversed away from the A4 and drove off. Willard - who somehow wasn’t injured in the wreck - stopped shortly after. Police were soon in attendance, and when breathalysed, Willard was found to be around three times over the legal limit.
She was found guilty of drink driving and failing to stop after the scene of an accident at Hasting Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday this week. Willard had her license taken away for two years and was sentenced to 150 hours of community service.

150 hours of community service, if that were Australia she’d be locked up for 10 years and fined $50,000
She should be honestly
Nah, that’s what they give to motorcyclists doing 120mph at 3AM on an empty motorway. Far too harsh for someone crashing through town causing a real danger to others.
Thats a surprisingly light sentance when you consider the driver is a teacher, a person of influence to children and teenagers, wouldnt be surprised if she lost her job though.
Exactly… there was a guy recently put in prison for using a laser jammer and pointing a middle finger to speed cameras
[DELETED]
I believe she will probably lose her job, due to the DBS checks or at least she won’t be hired again.
That’s…. not how sentencing works lol. Thank god. You can’t just change the sentencing based on what the person does for a living.
Just like her students then, under the influence.
“I’ll be your substitute teacher today. Ms. Willard was driving drunk and crashed. Anyway…”
I don’t want to add oil to the fire, but the bmw driver forgot to indicate. While i do get that the drunk woman had limited reflexes, a normal state person would have used the info for sure
He hasn’t forgotten, there is no indicators on BMWs
Not sure where you are from, but passing a stationary hazard in the UK most people don’t indicate. Not arguing whether or not that is right or wrong, but not indicating for a stationary hazard is normal here.
Poor corsa
Not really. They’re awful to drive.
I swear that people who have dashcams are the worst drivers and have them just so they can point at them and say “I’VE GOT YOU ON CAMERA!” when someone creeps past the speed limit.
I see a few people like that. I have a dashcam myself, and recently an S320 merged into me and drove off. Without that footage I would have been paying my insurance, now it’s been granted as a no fault claim and they accepted liability.
I drive with respect to others, I’m not going to say I’m a perfect driver (I drive an Audi Avant so…) but I try to be respectful to people around me.
Yeah it’s been said but I should think the majority of people have them for the same reason as I do. They were shafted in an insurance claim because there was no conclusive evidence to prove they weren’t at fault. It’s all too common.
Really? That’s it?
It’s sufficient. The overall damage caused is not out of proportions. Also, aside from judicial penalties, the woman is likely to lose her job or at least any prospect of career ascension she might have hoped for, possibly till the end of her career. And that’s not mentioning the social humiliation that represents, with her being a teacher and all..
That’s punishment enough. Judges reason in terms of proportion : they’ll only give you a certain penalty if it appears justified.
Thank god for speed cameras
If you drink and drive there should be a prison sentence. Your going to get someone killed or injured. It’s stupid and so are people
No words for this, other than that she could easily have seriously injured or killed others (not to mention herself) as a result of her driving. Two years ban isn’t nearly enough to discourage her from driving this wrecklessly in future
