Choosing Between A Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R And A Nissan GT-R Might Reduce You To Tears
The cars we’re pitching against each other today are two of the best and most iconic machines to ever grace our sweet tarmac. On the left is a car that needs no introduction. The Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R is already an automotive hero (also extremely rare in the UK), and not only because of the late, great, Paul Walker.
Known as ‘Godzilla’, the R34 is powered by the famous 2.6-litre RB26DETT engine, which officially produced 276hp (although dyno tests often revealed closer to 330hp).
Thanks to AWD, the R34 GT-R was, and still is, a formidable force; 0-62mph is dispatched in around 4.5sec and it’s good for a top speed of 156mph.
On the right side of the image above sits the new Nissan GT-R, a car we recently featured in our Readers’ Rides series. Like its predecessor, the youngster uses AWD and big power to produce astounding performance results.
From its 3.8-litre, twin-turbocharged VR38DETT V6 engine, the car produces 542bhp and 465lb ft of torque. 0-62mph takes just 2.8sec and it won’t stop accelerating until it reaches its 196mph top speed.
Both cars are automotive greats and choosing between them as your favourite may reduce you to tears. But we’d like you to try anyway…
