The All-Carbon Ruf SCR Has A 503bhp N/A Flat-Six And You Want One

I’ve been at the Geneva Motor Show this week, which means if I hear the words ‘mobility’, ‘connected’ or ‘autonomous’ one more time, I might just tear my rapidly greying hair out.
Thankfully, there are companies out there that take a thoroughly old-school approach to the world of cars, blending what’s best about the past with materials and know-how from the present. And few are doing it quite as well as Ruf, neatly demonstrated by its Geneva showpiece, the SCR.

Here, we have retro Porsche 911 styling, a model name Ruf first used 40 years ago, and a naturally-aspirated flat-six. Sounds pretty old fashioned, right? Sure, but the SCR also has a carbonfibre body and monocoque. It’s been fitted with ultra high-tech pushrod suspension. The tyres are track-focused Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s. Oh, and that flat-six - which displaces 4.0 litres - kicks out 503bhp. Given that the whole car weighs just 1250kg, it’s going to be seriously fast.

It’s also seriously expensive: a price isn’t mentioned in the press release, but Road and Track is reporting that Ruf will charge €650,000 for each of the 15 SCRs it will make in 2019.
Quite a figure, but if you were rich enough, you just would, wouldn’t you?

2nd paragraph, says ‘our” not “out”
This is the purest purist Porsche in the world. Except for it not being a Porsche, but gloss over that
Looks nice, but I would go for a Singer instead every single time. If I had the money, that is…
I want one? Not with those wheels I don’t.
I’d take a Singer over this any day. Although I do like the sound of the 4.0l na flat six kick out 500bhp.
so good everywhere but the back looks bad
503 naturally aspirated horses, pushrod suspension, a RUF…yes, I’d take one, but maybe in a shade of green darker.
No i don’t
that N/A flat six bought me, all of the rest is just a bonus! hype!
