The shooting brake is a rare body style these days. When Aston Martin revealed its new Vanquish Shooting Brake, it occurred to us that other than the limited-run, Zagato-penned wagon and the Ferrari GTC4Lusso, there aren’t really any other production cars with that body style - at least not in ‘pure’ two-door form. But now, there’s a new kid on the block.

It’s rather unimaginatively called the GT, and it’s the work of the Alcraft Motor Company, a firm we’re guessing you hadn’t heard of before today. Alcraft is proposing a 600bhp, 840lb ft electric shooting brake with a 300 mile range, with a targeted 2019 production kick-off.

It’s certainly a pretty thing, if a little more comely from the rear than the front. In fact, from some angles it’s reminiscent of the aforementioned Zagato’d Aston, which is no bad thing.

Its body style will allow for a massive 500 litre boot, although if you don’t mind sacrificing some of that, Alcraft says there will be an option to have it made as a 2 + 2 instead of a strict two-seater.

The company was founded by a chap called David Alcraft, and features a core team including Charles Morgan, formerly of Morgan Motor Company, plus ex-Morgan designer Matt Humphries and former Toyota, Daewoo and Michelin senior exec Mark Carbery.

People who know what they’re doing, in other words, but they’ve a long road to travel: start-up car companies like these come and go all the time, and currently the GT only exists in the form of some renders and a one-third scale foam model.

Still, this is one we’d rather like to see become reality. If you fancy chipping in, Alcraft has just launched a crowd-funding efforts, with contributions from £10 up to £25,000.
