If i had a mx5, first thing i would change would be the tyres and rims (considering if you want more of grip than going sideways that is)

To be honest, Modifications for the car doesn’t look right/nice. It’s just my opinion but you can totally ignore me because I’m just a twelvie. Though I would say you should make it more solid looking not all round edges and also add turbo. Get some cash of this car with drag races (XD) and then sell it. Get a Evo, Silvia, 350GT or if you are fond of little cars maybe get a Volks Golf! It looks sick if it is Matte black or dark grey with red callipers.

Brakes are an easy mod, you could upgrade to the 1.8 brakes fairly easy, paint them for maybe, five, six, rwhp, and with all the extra horses you’ll have you’ll need the stopping power.

Wheels & tyres, then coilovers, then brakes, then exhaust and air intake, then supercharger or turbo!

If you really care, spec miata suspension and tires. It will literally handle like a racecar. A racecar from an amateur series, but a racecar none the less. All off-the-shelf parts
