A post about some rare classic portuguese cars :D

My first long and “interesting” post i think xD
I decided to compile a list of very unknown vintage and classic cars to the world from my country Portugal with pictures and some specs i found about them.

Edfor Grand Sport

The Edfor Grand Sport was a racing car created in 1937 by Eduardo Ferreirinha. It was powered by a 3.6L Ford V8 and weighted 970kg/2138 lbs and it was capable of reaching a top speed of 160kph/99mph.

Marlei

The Marlei car was built by a mechanic named Mário Moreira Leite (Mário Leite = Marlei haha) in 1950. It used the Opel Olympia Caravan platform and it was powered by a 1.6L inline-4 engine that only produced 48hp, but it still could reach a top speed of 160kph/99mph, because of its unknown very light weight xD

Alba

The Alba was a racing car built by António Augusto Martins Pereira in 1952. It is said they’ve only built 3 Albas. It was powered by a 1.5L inline-4 engine that produced 90hp and a 4 speed manual transmission. It was fast, capable of reaching 200kph/124mph of top speed.

DM

Built by Dionísio Mateus in 1952 the DM was a racing car powered by a 1.1L inline-4 that produced 65hp and because it only weighted 500kg/1102 lbs it could reach a top speed of 170kph/105mph.

Olda

The Olda was a racing car (“Another one” xD) built in 1954. It used the platform of the Fiat 1100 and its 1.5L inline-4 engine as well which produced 80hp, it also had a 4-speed manual transmission, it weighted 500kg/1102 lbs and it could reach a top speed of 165kph/102mph.

1958 AGB IPA

The AGB IPA was built in a 1958 and it was small 4-door or coupe economical family car meant to be mass produced, but it never was for unknown reasons. It was equipped with a British Anzani 300cc 2-stroke 2-cylinder engine which produced a whooping 15hp! xD

Portaro 260D

Portaro was an offroad brand created in 1975 that used the platform of the ARO romanian offroad vehicle and used a wide range of NA and turbocharged diesel engines, these 2 in particular had a 2.6L inline-4 turbocharged diesel engine. In 1990 after selling only a little more than 7000 units in Portugal and some more to the military, the company went bust due to a lack of financial assistance to the national automotive industry by the portuguese government (most portuguese car brands ended just like this :/)

Sado 550

The Sado 550 was created in 1982 and it was like a 80s portuguese version of the SmartForTwo (it looks like a portuguese Peel P50 in my opinion haha). It was powered by a 550cc 2-cylinder engine that produced 28hp connected to a 4-speed manual transmission and it was a very light weight “car” weighting just 480kg/1058 lbs thus besides the lack of power it was capable of hitting a top speed of 120kph/74mph (imagine that in this haha).

UMM, another offroad brand

UMM was an offroad vehicle brand created in 1977 and it was the most long lived portuguese car brand only going bust in 2006. The brand made 3 different models, the Cournil, the Alter I and the Alter II (the evolution of the first). The 3 models used a 2.3L or a 2.5L inline-4 naturally aspirated diesel engine and the Alter model saw some action in the Portuguese Colonial Wars in Mozambique and Angola.
