3 Stereotypical Things about Porsche Busted #stereotypesbusted
A short funny story about this blog post : I came up with this idea about busting stereotypes, after getting “roasted” in #triggertheCTzens.
[Note : If you are a Porsche Fan Boy, like me, you will surely enjoy this, but please don’t start a discussion about who builds the best cars ! This isn’t the meaning behind the post !!!]
Here we go !
1. "All Porsches look the same/ like a Beetle !"
Let’s settle this for once and forever ! Yes, Porsche took some parts from the VW Beetle, but basically it was the other around. Ferdinand Porsche the designer of the Beetle and also of the first Porsches (the Type 96 and the 356), took the parts of it, because he escaped from WW2 and wanted to start a new business.
If you already have designed a successful car, then why would you use other more expensive parts and make them on your own? (Let that sink in a few minutes :p)
Luckily, nowadays the newest version of the Beetle and the newest Porsche are very different from each other.
But still, in every Beetle lies the spirit of a Porsche and vice versa… And that’s what I call a lovely “homage” !
cough cough Lamborghini = Ferrari cough cough
And as real Porsche geeks will know, there’s always and will be one thing that hasn’t changed about Porsche… The “911 Formula” ! Porsche has a special formula for every generation of the 911, which are also the most iconic and easily recognisable features, the typical style of the A-beam, the (mostly) oval headlights and the spoilers.
“Well, but why haven’t they changed it?”, you might ask yourself. It’s because they’re just so close to be(or even are) the best cheap road legal Race Cars. Which brings me to the next point…
2. "Porsche drivers are middle aged and have a midlife crisis!"
You don’t need to panic ! Not all of them are in the mid 30’s and/or have a midlife crisis, by the way why would you have a one in such a car? I mean, almost all of the 911’s are cheap street legal Race cars… Just compare the price of a 911 GT3 (2009) and a Lamborghini Gallardo (2008), for example. The GT3 would cost less than $ 50.000 in comparison !
Also, the old aircooled ones are skyrocketing in value over the years, thanks to collectors and Porsche guru’s.
3. "Once you have driven one, you don't want to change to another brand."
Unfortunately I don’t have driven one myself to confirm this stereotype. But the technology and passion Porsche uses in their models is just incredible.
Here down below is a video of an 911 engine mounted to a G-force meter, to test if the oil is still flowing at maximum G-force while driving a simulated round on the Nordschleife.
Have you ever seen a other manufacturer doing that? Probably, no ! Porsche are just pure Race cars. If have driven a Race car, you don’t want to change to a “normal” car, that’s unsatisfying.
Thanks for reading !
I never thought I would come to an end, I could write for hours about this, if I had a proper keyboard. (I am currently typing this on my phone and my thumbs start hurting).
Maybe I can even make this a new series of blogpost, for different manufacturers? Let me know what you think about this… I already have some ideas ;p

I’m going to say this here the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991.1) is seriously making me reconsider my life choices…
Haha, that’s awesome !
Yesss
:D
Please do more of this
Maybe, maybe even with another brand?
Porsche fanboy here, you couldnt have written it better. I love everything porsche(cept that ugly ass panamera jeremy clarkson summed up my opinion well on that one episode) and i think something like this would be a good idea.
Thanks, I appreciate it. Yeah, the Panamera isn’t the beautifuliest but more practical.

Seriously though, I know a guy who has a classic Porsche and he’s in his 60’s
Haha, but he isn’t in his mid 30’s :p Maybe he’s a Porsche lover?
Another thing that is annoying is people claiming Porsches are always prone to oversteer no matter what because of the rear engine layout. If you fiddle with suspension and tyre settings they can even be prone to understeer
The third one is sooo true
