We're A Little Bit In Love With Ken Block's New Ford Escort Cosworth

Ken Block's latest drift mobile is a WRC-spec 1991 Escort Cosworth, and it looks mean as hell

It’s new car time for professional tyre smoker Ken Block, and as you’d expect from the man with a 1400bhp all-wheel drive ‘Mustang’, it’s nothing run-of-the-mill.

It’s another Ford (Block’s partnership with the Blue Oval no doubt influencing the choice), and it’s a 1991 Escort Cosworth. In “period-correct” WRC spec. Oh yes.

While it may look like the fifth-generation Escort, the RS Cosworth version shares little in common with the standard car. Instead, Ford used the chassis and drivetrain from the Sierra RS Cosworth, cladding it in Escort body parts. Oh, and the designers added a ruddy-great whale tail rear wing.

As for Block’s rally-spec example, we can expect to see it tackling some “fun stage rallies and other projects,” but other than that, he’s remained relatively coy on his plans for the car. We can’t wait to see what he gets up to…

Block isn’t that much of a Blockhead I thought he was. Great taste.

True, this and the rwd escort are my favorite cars of him.

Only one missing now is the sierra and the rs200 and then it will have all the cool rally fords. But he’s getting there

I wonder if he builds them himself. I doubt it.

Why is this getting downvoted? Is CT not allowed to ask questions?

I never really understood why every Escort Cosworth ever needs to have these ugly aftermarket headlights, but if the likes them… it’s his car after all. I really like the Escort Cosworth, what a great car.

They’re not aftermarket. They’re what Ford used on their works rally cars.

The original Escort’s had one big headlight lence since this is the WRC Escort cozzi they have turbos, the turbos need to have the air intake hence why the headlights have gone from one big headlight to something you’d find on a Mk1 Golf and the other circle cover being for the air intake, without the covers it would look ugly af hence why they tried to hide it

They are so much better than the standard headlights, and they also look better imo.

Clearly only being aloud to choose fords hasn’t stopped him picking great cars to use in the last few years.

Ford should try and source him an Rs1700, the rwd forgotten rally car that even looks like something he’d build
