Shanghai Auto Show: Craziest Chinese Knock-Offs

China is famous for building knock-offs of common cars. Many of them have been shown on the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show. If you also want to see the 10 weirdest and funniest cars of this car show, check my profile!

#1: Zotye E30

Zotye is a Chinese car brand, and it’s famous for its knock-offs. You’ll see them quite a few times in this post. First up, we’ve got this, the E30. It’s an electric city car, and it’s slightly inspired by the new Smart ForTwo.

#2: Zotye E200

And because the Smart is one of China’s most copied cars, Zotye has not brought one, but two! The E200 has a slightly different design and better specs.

#3: Zotye Z700

Next up: Another Zotye! This time the Z700, which, depending on the angle, looks like a Volkswagen Passat, an Audi or a Hyundai Genesis.

#4: Zotye SR8

This is the most accurate copy so far: The Zotye SR8, also known as Porsche Macan. The interior looks the same as well

#5: Dongfeng X5

Zotye is by far not the only Chinese knock-off company. Take a look at this Tiguan-inspired SUV called ‘X5’. But guess what, it’s neither a Volkswagen nor a BMW - it’s a Dongfeng.

#6: Dongfeng Fengshen A9

Next up we’ve got an A9 - but it’s not an Audi. It’s a Chinese luxury sedan which is slightly inspired by Volkswagen. But hey, at least it has a funny name…

#7: Changan CS95 360T

Hey, take a look at that Land Rover! No, wait a second, Land Rover wouldn’t call it ‘CS95 360T’… And why does it say Changan on the grille?!

#8: Hanteng X7

Hanteng’s version of the Tiguan is called X7. This is getting confusing…

#9: Hanteng EV

Hanteng also knocked off the Jaguar F-Pace. BTW, take a look at their logo (in the background): Ferrari’s prancing horse inside the Fiat emblem. At least they have a sense of humor.

#10: Huanghai N2

Coming up: The Ford knock-offs. Starting with the Ranger.

#11: Hawtai WS 55

This Hawtai looks suspiciously like a Ford Mondeo.

#12: Lifan Xuanlang

But the best Ford copy is Lifan’s version of the S-Max.

#13: Landwind R7

What would a list of Chinese Knock-Offs be without Landwind? World-famous for copying the Evoque, they’re now back at it again: This time, it’s a Tiguan.

#14: Hong Qi LS5

Another Land-Rover Hommage, although this time it’s a Range Rover Sport.

#15: SWM Motors X3

This X3 is not meant to be a BMW, it’s the Chinese version of the Volkswagen Sharan. And by looking at it, it’s probably REALLY top-heavy.

#16: Haima S5

This is not an Opel / Vauxhall. It’s a Haima.

#17: Roewe E RX-5

One final Tiguan Knock-Off, this time in form of a Rover… errhhh… Roewe.

#18: Hybrid Kinetic H600, K550 & K750

And last up we’ve got the entire fleet of Hybrid Kinetic. Okay, the sedan H600 was unveiled in Geneva, but the two SUV models are from Shanghai Auto Show. The design of all three is pretty similar to Volvo S90, XC60 and XC90.

So guys, I really hope you enjoyed this post.
