This guy is passed by only two cars; a white one (guess it is a 2 series) and a rather colorful Porsche Cayman, to whom the Miata can keep up and even close up on in the twisty sections. Then the Porsche just soars in the straights. This is why I love the MX-5 so much

OK, I’m not as good a driver, but when I had my Celica I had the same experience. I put some better brakes on, semi slick tyres, front and rear strut brace from the GT4 and stiffer suspension. Nothing done to the engine (1.8 114bhp) and on a track day I paid for some instruction from an ex F1 test driver. By the end of the day I was embarrassing cars that should have been a lot quicker than me. It was a hell of a buzz to realize how quick you can actually go in a slow car.
