Just like buses, it seems if you’ve been waiting ages for a fast BMW 7-series, two come along at once. Only a few days ago the 600bhp Alpina B7 was revealed, and now, BMW has released its own uber-7.

It’s still not quite an M7: as you may have already worked out from the M760Li designation, this car is the work of M Performance, rather than M Division. It’s not far off as powerful as the Alpina though, with its 6.6-litre, twin-turbo V12 good for 592bhp. The four-wheel drive hulk can go from 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds, although unlike the V8 Alpina this one has an electronic limiter to spoil the fun at 155mph. Boo.

The M760Li is the first V12 machine in the current G11/12 7-series, and it hopefully should be a little less hushed than previous BMW 12-pots thanks to an active quad exhaust with bypass valves. And although it’s four-wheel drive, it should be a rear-led thing, with the xDrive system fettled to send more of the V12’s grunt to the rear than in other all-wheel drive BMWs.

There’s no word on pricing just yet, but with the current range-topping 7-series - the V8-powered 750i - costing £79,970, closer to and potentially over £90,000 is what we’re expecting.

`I don’t need it. A 750 is enough, I felt it myself and the xDrive is just gonna be an understeer dragger. I don’t need it. I don’t need it. I NEED IT, I NEED IT, I NEED IT.

I will never understand cars of this size. If you want comfort for your daily commute a 5-series/E-Class/A6 would suffice. And all come as high-powered versions. This is just larger for no good reason except for bragging.

I’ll have to disagree. The new 750i xDrive is very easy to maneuver and it feels responsive. Around downtown Sacramento, the car feels relatively small and short (I know it sounds crazy but, the G11 is pretty damn good for city commute)

Sit in one and you feel like you’re riding on a cloud. Plus massive legroom in the back and a very strong presence. Can’t say I’d take one over an m5, but Id take it over a 5 series any day.

This isn’t just confort…there’s a lot of luxury to it.

This is one of the cars in witch a manual would be out of place.

First 7-Series that beats the S-Class in the looks department, in my opinion. That 760 is damn sexy

Besides the first CLS, I think the only Benz I found really beautiful was the new A-Class
