The 30 Jahre M3 Is BMW's Way Of Saying Happy Birthday To A Super Saloon Legend

We’ve just seen the wraps get taken off the latest version of the BMW M3 at the Nurburgring 24 Hours. It’s called the ‘30 Jahre M3’, and as you might have gathered by the name, it’s all about celebrating 30 years since the gorgeous and boxy E30 M3 burst onto the performance car scene.

Just 500 Macao Blue metallic examples will be built - a finish intended to be an homage to the old E30 M3. You also get a liberal spreading of ‘30 Jahre’ badges, and on the inside, you’ll find an exclusive full leather Merino trim with a ‘Black/Fjord’ Blue finish, with the option of ‘Black/Silverstone’, should the former not be to your liking. Oh, and yet more 30 Jahre badges, plus lots of carbonfibre.

Mechanically, it’s identical to the M3 Competition Pack, which means 444bhp, 406lb ft of torque, and a 0-62mph time of four seconds dead. You also get the Comp Pack’s 666 M star design wheels, which is fine by us - they’re flipping gorgeous.

The UK has been given just 30 examples of the 30 Jahre (see what they did there?), although us in Blighty will be treated to BMW Individual Frozen Silver metallic finishes, as opposed to Macao Blue.

It’ll set you back a rather considerable £82,675 when it goes on sale this summer.
