5 Cars That Will Almost Certainly Become Classics!

Some cars we look back on and as petrol heads we’re just certain that they will become classics, up there with the Jaguar E-Type, Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, BMW M1, Aston Martin DB5, Ford Mustang GT350 etc… the list could go on forever.

Even more recentley we are seeing more modern cars rocket in value. The BMW E46 M3 CSL a few years ago would set you back about £40-50k. Now you’re looking at more £60-70k for a prestine example. So I just thought I would list 5 cars which I thought could soon become classic cars that we rave about to our kids / grandkids.

1- Jaguar F-Type

I laughed when i first heard that Jaguar would be making a successor to the E-Type. I thought it was like having a baby boy and calling him Jesus. It would have to be something special. But boy did I have to eat some humble pie. This thing was so beautiful I couldn’t stop looking at it.

The F-Type wasn’t just a pretty body either. It had a all new aluminum body and some pretty serious poke. Both V6 and V8 variants sounded biblical, making it a special occasion every time it’s driven. Its a desriable exotic machine now, and no doubt will become an ultra-desirable classic.

2- BMW E60 M5

All hail this V10 monster. Worshipped by BMW fans everywhere at the holy alter of the M division. This car has it’s faults like every other car. But the tsunami of that V10 greatness washes its faults into complete insignificance.

Some say with the downsizing and turbocharging, BMW M cars have lost some of that character / savagery, but here is what I think was the pinical for BMW engines. This screaming monster could make driving to the shops for a loaf of bread, a sideways journey, almost killing you, but leaving you with a smile from ear to ear. The little ‘M’ button on the wheel just begging to be pressed to send you to motoring heaven (or maybe literal heaven).

Don’t worry if you have a dog that loves to go sideways and projectile vomit, because theres also an estate version !!

No doubt this 200mph (if delimited) monster will go up there as an all time BMW masterpiece.

3- Ford Focus RS (2016)

Over the last 12 months we have had a barrage of hyper hatchback street fighters coming from almost every manufacturer out there. The one that seemed to get a lot of the hype was the Focus RS. The last Focus RS was a hoon but now this new one with AWD and ‘drift mode’ would be more so. I mean what petrol head would say no to a car with a ‘drift mode’. Who cares if it’s not sensible or responsible !!

The new Focus RS has been compared to the likes of the Escort Cosworth (or Cosaa if you’re from the north) from the 90’s. Now thats become a classic so whats there to say the new Focus RS won’t do the same.

4- Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray

I have to admit that I have been one of those typical ‘europeans’ that have looked down their noses at American muscle cars. They’re too simple, not refined etc etc…

Well for the secomd time in this article I’m eating humble pie and I’m getting full! The C7 Stingray is not only a return of the legendary name but also showing that an American muscle car could really duel it out with European thoroughbreds. Dont forget that compared to its rivals from across the pond it’s also quite a bit cheaper.

5- Alfa-Romeo 4C

The heart and sole of the motoring world Alfa-Romeo. “You can’t be a true petrol head until you’ve owned one” as we’ve heard Jeremy Clarkson say several times.

Alfas have always been seen as a relativley nice way to get around, break down and then continue on the back of an AA lorry. But you still love it, its like an annoying child, he may misbehave, draw on the ways, spit out his food and go to the toilet on your carpet, but you still love him (I think).

It’s the same with Alfa’s. They have their faults but they charm you and make you fall in love, and surely that’s what motoring is all about, not what a spec sheet tells you -.-!!

The 4C is already well loved thanks to its driver involvment and also its to die for looks. Looking back at many of Alfa-Romeo’s classic sports cars, it’s hard to argue that the 4C won’t join them.

Well those are 5 cars I’m almost certain will become classics, and I could’ve gone on for ages, but comment any you think will become classics too!
