Dear Subaru: Please Make This Imaginary Forester STI A Reality

Dear Subaru: Please Make This Imaginary Forester STI A Reality

Aside from the presence of a boxer engine and a ‘proper’ symmetrical all-wheel drive system, there isn’t much about Subaru’s new Forester to get excited about. But just imagine for a moment that Subaru is cooking up an STI version. The company almost certainly isn’t, of course, but thankfully the car rendering Photoshop pros of the Internet are more than happy to indulge our fantasies.

This imaginary Forester STI comes courtesy X-Tomi Design, and doesn’t it look handsome in WR Blue with some STI-flavoured additions? If we were being picky we’d suggest that the ride height is maybe a little low, but hey - since Subaru is highly unlikely to make such a thing, there’s no harm in deviating from production realities.

The standard Forester is unlikely to get pulses racing

While a Forester STI isn’t on the cards, next-generation versions of the WRX and the WRX STI do look to be happening. The classic boxer engine configuration may be dropped, but we can expect symmetrical all-wheel drive, and styling derived from the Viziv Performance and Viziv Performance STI concepts.

As the demand shows, most people who can actually afford one like them.

I’m an SUV hater, but I admit I do have a soft spot for the new X3 M40i. Also, Macan GTS and RRS SVR… not a fan of anything else, really, but this STI Forester looks really good!

There are so many reasons why SUV’s in general make no sense. They’re heavier, meaning lower mpg and higher CO2 figures, meaning they’re worse for the environment. They also take longer distances to stop, therefore are more dangerous to people around them. The size means they aren’t as aerodynamic, furthermore reducing mileage and are worse for air pollution. They even have less boot space than estate cars, and any 4WD/AWD estate with good offroad tires are just as good as these crappy SUV’s nowadays off-road. They take up more space, use more materials to build, and are worse for the environment all in the name of ride height snd style, all while being pretty terrible off road. In my humble opinion they are pointless. In a world of SUV’s, be a wagon.
