Which Is The Faster Rally Car: Audi S3 Or Classic Sport Quattro?
These days, the Audi S3 is pretty damn fast. The current model churns out a smidge under 300bhp from its turbocharged 2-litre four-pot, hits 60 from a standstill in 5 seconds and tops out at an electronically limited 155mph. This clearly had Audi wondering: how well would it do against its Group B rally hero granddad, the mighty Audi Sport Quattro?
To find out, Audi sent a road-going Sport Quattro and the latest S3 to an old rally stage in San Remo, Italy, where both were sent on a timed thrash.
The beastly 5-cylinder Sport Quattro has around about the same power as the S3 and a lower weight. But with a much less sophisticated four-wheel drive system underneath, this is a very tight battle indeed.
Our only gripe with this awesome video is the added music drowns out the glorious 5-pot noise from the Sport Quattro far too much. Naughty Audi.
