After being hit from behind by competitor Danny Steyn at Watkins Glen, Miata driver Leland Englebardt's car was launched into the air before hitting an Armco barrier

The uploader - Steyn himself - expresses concern in the video description about the kerbs at Watkins Glen, which launched his fellow racer’s car into the air. “The curbing could possibly launch a car over the ARMCO barriers into the crowds and I suggest that Watkins Glen seriously rethink this curbing,” he says. Although Englebardt’s car didn’t jump the barrier, he was badly injured in the crash, suffering multiple fractures. Here’s hoping he has a swift recovery.

Why exactly? He took the inside line to try and get past a slower car which appeared to be sticking to the outside. The slower Miata then turned down on him, at which point the closing speed was too much to avoid contact. If you’re referring to the arm waving I read into it as being an, “Oh crap, oh my god,” kind of thing being concerned about the other driver.
