Watch Drift King Garo Haroutounian Dominate This Lebanese Hill Climb
In the world of hill climb events, Pikes Peak is king, so it's no surprise that this video of Garo Haroutounian's run up the Falougha Hill Climb has taken a little while to surface. But better late than never...
Taking place the same weekend as its famous American counterpart, this Lebanese event runs up Mount Lebanon, through the town of Falougha and up towards the sky. There are a number of different categories of car, but the one we care about is the rear-wheel-drive category, starring Haroutounian and his BMW 330Ci.
From the very first corner, Haroutounian channels the spirit of those pioneering Touge racers that began drifting as a way of quickly altering their car's attitude on downhill runs. Throwing his 3 Series into hairpin after hairpin, nailing the throttle and swinging the back out, inches from walls and severe drops, this Armenian means business. And to make it even sweeter, his Beemer sounds like a fight between an angry bear and a wasp nest.
But he's not all show. Haroutounian's display also earned him the class victory.
