Top 10 Eargasmic Exhaust Notes
10. Audi TT RS Plus/RS3
The thing we enjoyed most during our hoon er, thorough test drive of the TT RS Plus was the fabulous exhaust noise from its 2.5-litre, 335bhp turbocharged 5-pot. If this thing were a plane, it'd be a Vulcan Bomber!
9. Porsche Cayenne/Panamera GTS
That 4.8-litre, 420bhp V8 sounds like thunder. The main event of our quick spin in this 2 tonne maniac came courtesy of the quartet out back, and this particular model has the aftermarket Akrapovic exhausts, which make it sound even better.
8. Aston Martin Vanquish
In reality, any 6.0-litre V12 Aston is worthy of this special list. Especially one as expensive (£190k), powerful (565bhp) and fast (0-62mph in 4.1sec) as this stunner.
7. Morgan 3 Wheeler
£30,000 is all you need to enjoy this excellent sounding 1.9-litre V-twin trike! Just keep your fingers crossed for dry weather; a spill in this thing won't simply result in a quick dust off...
6. Ascari KZ1R
A 520bhp BMW V8 with more pops and gargles than volcanic popping candy is the exhaust equivalent of the end of the world. If you want your own slice of Ascari brutality, you'll need a cool £170k.
5. Mercedes C63 AMG Black
An exhaust symphony wouldn't be complete without an AMG. Here's our favourite one of the bunch, the 510hp 6.2-litre V8 in the Black Series C-class.
4. BMW M5 (E60)
For our twin super saloon test with the Lexus IS F -which you can catch on our YouTube channel soon - we insisted on having the old V10 powered M5 and this is the reason why!
3. Lamborghini Aventador
You've got to love the Aventador's exhaust! For a start, it's wider than a tunnel. That 6.5-litre 691hp V12 is just glorious and makes the idea of an Aventador roadster very valid.
2. Ferrari F12/FF
If it's the best sounding V12 tenor you're after, look no further. This can't just be a naturally aspirated 730hp 6.3-litre engine under the bonnet can it? God really must have something to do with that noise...
1. Maserati Quattroporte GT S
'Oooooh, OOOOOOOOOOOH!!' Yeah, that was our reaction too. That's why the 434hp 4.7-litre V8 masterpiece tops our list at numero uno! The only thing that could sound better is playing all ten exhausts at once!
If we've missed something truly epic, express your outrage in the comments.
