This Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS Might Just Be The Most Spectacular Lego Set Ever Created

Can't quite afford a real 911 GT3 RS? This Lego Technic version - on sale this summer - is the next best thing

As you walk into Car Throttle HQ, you’ll see a fairly large Lego Ferrari F40. I spent a good few hours building it last year, at which point I was pretty sure it was the coolest Lego set ever created. But, that imaginary award now has to go to this incredible Lego Technic creation.

It’s set number 42056, and it’s a re-creation of the mighty Porsche 911 GT3 RS. And if you don’t want it very badly indeed, there’s something wrong with you.

This Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS Might Just Be The Most Spectacular Lego Set Ever Created

It’s a 1:8 scale model of the real thing, and measures 57cm in length, 25cm in width and is 17cm high. If you’re looking for something to occupy your time, you’re in luck: with 2704 pieces in the set - more than twice the number found in the F40 kit - it isn’t going to be a quick thing to build.

Want one? It’s available from Lego’s online shop and selected Lego stores from 1 June, and everywhere else from 1 August. Predictably it’s not cheap: in the UK you’re looking at £249.00 in the UK and $299.99 in the USA.

I was gearing up to find a way to buy it, and then I saw the price and actually dropped my phone and exclaimed in horror.

I would buy it, if it had a working drivetrain, but it costs as much as a die cast metal 1:18 model…with precise details.
